In the year 1836, in the remote wilds of Texas, nine year old Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnapped by the last of the Comanche Indians. The story follows how Cynthia grew up in their village, soon mastered their ways, and married one of their leaders, and fundamentally became a one of the most interesting Comanche women of all time. The author Lucia St. Clair Robson captivated the Comanche people to perfection and the tale was so captivating it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. While the story tells Cynthia Ann Parker’s growing up among the Comanche people there is essentially a historic romance story rooted throughout this incredible tale. When I first picked up this book I was a young teenager looking for an adventure and a love story to peak my curiosity. I fell in love with the tale and have read it over and over again. Now I live close to Oklahoma Territory where Cynthia Ann Parker’s son Quanta Parker lived and ruled as Chief so the story naturally intrigued me again. The pictures and map help the reader visualize the terrain the early Texan’s and Comanche Indians lived in. I would recommend this book to the adventure, romantics, and history seekers who long for a true journey into the Wild West.

But, in order to gain his fortune he must ruin and innocent young lady’s reputation enough to make her flee to America with her family.  Brook Banks came to London to have a good time, and that’s what she intends to do. Extensively known for her inclination to disobey the rules of society, she suspects nothing when an attractive stranger appears on her doorstep making her body quiver like no other has ever been able to do.

Will Andrew and Brook stick to their original plans, or decide if a life together is worth the danger.

Andrew Black is not one of those rogues we often read about in regency romances, and that is what intrigued me the most about this story. Instead, Black is bullied into agreeing to damage the character of one of the daughters in the Banks family to get them to run back to America. What drew me to Andrew right away was his reluctance to do it. This is a champion with principles who feels torn between doing what is right and doing what he knows is wrong. Brook is headstrong and in a way very naive when it comes to men’s motives. Though she has kissed a few and was considered a tease. I related to Brook because I love a woman who can put up a fight and face up to trouble with her head held high. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a historical, funny, and romantic book.
