Jane Kirkpatrick’s ability to explore the human spirit makes One
Glorious Ambition a glorious novel of love, compassion, and duty.
Dorothea Dix was born a nineteenth-century woman with little rights, She
dares the nation’s most influential men to provide humane treatment for
the hopeless—the handicapped and insane.
Although the story is sad at times Dorothea Dix's character brings
vitality and hope to the people of her time. She is caring to a fault,
even though it sometimes makes her ill. Because she has seen her mother
go through a mental illness it gave her passion to help those who are in
a similar state. She holds on to family value even when forces beyond
her control makes it imposable.
"I enjoyed the book immensely and would recommend it to anyone who loves to read"
